Founded in 2018, Hamilton Training offers a range of training courses in lifeguarding, emergency first aid, swimming instruction, pool plant operations, child safeguarding, fire safety, and health & safety. A key part of our core business and services we offer revolve around prevention of drowning.
Since established, Hamilton Training are proud announce the following achievements:

- Taking client swimming pool compliance from an average of 47% through to 91% through our auditing and consultancy.
All training courses are delivered by professional and experienced trainers, who are assessed on their course delivery throughout the year. This ensures the highest possible standards are maintained, with all attendees having the greatest possible learning experience.

Meet the Hamilton Training team
Alex Thewlis
Alex is Level 4 qualified in Education and Training and IQA, he is the Quality Assurance Officer and Tutor at Hamilton Training and has over 12 years’ experience in management and training within the aquatics and leisure industry.
He has been conducting training since 2015 and currently holds a Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services licence and trainer/tutor status with the RLSS and Highfield International. Alex conducts Swimming Pool Health & Safety audits and consultancy, as well as leading Pool Lifeguard, Swimming Pool Safety, First Aid, Pool Plant and International Award in Delivering Training (Train the Trainer) courses.
Joy Ordona
Joy is a Lifesaving and First Aid Trainer and Lifeguard Line Manager at Hamilton Training.
Joy has a BSc in Nursing and worked as a nurse in the Philippines before moving to the UAE in 2009, gaining over 10 years of experience in the training industry.
Prior to joining Hamilton Training in 2018, she worked with a medical training centre in Abu Dhabi, where she passed on her experience and expertise to medical and non-medical professionals and corporate clients.
Joy currently holds a Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services licence, American Heart Association (AHA) and Highfield International tutor status and is qualified to deliver First Aid, Lifeguard and Basic and Advanced Life Support courses.
Joy describes herself as a people person and the best part of her job is the interactions she has, Facilitating learning and teaching people the skills to help others and save lives.
Chris Fernandes
Chris is from Bombay, India. He has been in Dubai since 2006 and working for Hamilton Training since 2018, as a Tutor and Admin. Chris currently holds tutor status with Highfield International in the following - First Aid, Fire Safety, Health and Safety, Risk Assessment and IADT.
Chris can speak four languages fluently, Hindi, English, Marathi and Konkani.
He says the best part of his job is training people to save lives.
Chris Lawrenson
Chris is the Training & Operations Manager at Hamilton Training. Chris has been a senior life support instructor for over 8 years with experience in the UK military, government and ambulatory services.
Chris is an Emergency First Responder HCP and has operated with Dubai Ambulance for the past 6 years as well as helping train and develop young Emirati minds in the medical field as a clinical mentor.
Chris holds a Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services emergency care and instructor license, American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor, ASHI Instructor and a Highfield Awarding Body in Compliance status. He has a strong passion for first aid and lifesaving interventions and a strong belief in its teachings throughout the UAE.
Beth Weaver
Beth graduated Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2014 with bachelor’s degree in BSc of Health and Social care. Beth has an extensive background working in various Health & Social Care settings. Beth has worked in the leisure environment for over 15 years. Qualifying as a City and Guilds assessor in 2016.
Since moving to the UAE in 2017 Beth has worked with Hamilton Aquatics within the Learn to Swim department and undergoing her Swim England tutor license in 2020 to deliver the Swim England teaching qualifications to aspiring swim teachers in the middle east.
